Frequently Asked Questions

Answered by our Director, Kirsty.

I don't know the first thing about procurement, where should I start?

Welcome to the world of procurement!  It may seem daunting, but there is a lot of tangible benefit that can come from proper procurement process.  Take a look at our Crib Sheets as a starting point, and get in touch if you need any extra help.

Can I just have a quick chat to see if your services are right for me?

Absolutely, our Quick Advice services offer a couple of options, drop us a message and we can arrange a convenient time for a call.

Who will I be working with?

The majority of the time, you will be working with me; sometimes for less complex projects, I might ask a Procurement Assistant to come on board too.  Rest assured, all project decisions and overall outcome responsibility will be mine.  I look forward to working with you!

Are you able to advise on the new public procurement regulations?

Definitely, I am an advanced practitioner in PA2023.  To get that accreditation, I completed 10 hours of e-learning and 3 days of intensive deep dive training.  I've also been actively using the new regulations in public procurement since February 2025.

If you work with buyers and suppliers, isn't that a conflict of interests?

I will be supporting both buyers and suppliers and it is possible that every now and again those two things will produce a conflict, however it is unlikely.

A key part of any procurement process is an assessment of conflict of interests.  If at any point a conflict arises, stakeholders will be informed and I will take necessary steps to ensure it is resolved.  This may be by handing the evaluation stage of a tender over to a colleague for example.

Still not sure?
